Fuses, Spirit, Facebook and Snow! November 12, 2013

Minha Familia! (: Oi!

So as you may have known, yesterday was Veterans day! So the library was closed, so that's why I'm emailing on a Tuesdayafternoon! (: Hope you didn't miss me too much! (;

Mom and Dad! THANK YOU SO MUCH! My Halloween gift was delish! And super cute! You guys are the best parents ever! Thank you (: I didn't know Harry & David made Moose Munch bites. They were perfect! I could just pop one on my way out the door! Or after my lunch. They were super duper good! And Sister Clawson is thankful too! I shared. And she loved them. Thank you! It was a very happy halloween!

Let me see... What happened this week...?

Well Sister Clawson and I now know how to fix our car problems. I don't know who's idea it was to give all the cars to sisters and then expect us to be able to fix them when needed, but some of the girls out here have no idea what there doing. I, on the other hand, am so grateful for my father! Dad, you taught me how to take car of my car! And how to check things and make sure everything is going good. Thank you! (: We had to add brake fluid, coolant, fix our tire pressure, and fix a fuse. I didn't know some of that, so thank heavens the elders in our ward were so willing to help and teach us! Yay! (: Apparently one of the elders parents both work with cars, so he knew what he was doing. So awhile back our car ran out of battery, and we had to get someone to jump us. Sadly he didn't quite know what he was doing and he blew a fuse before he got our car running again. So when that happened, our clock and radio and cd system was shot.. We have been driving around not listening to music and not knowing what time it was for about a month! Well you can fix that! And now I know how! You just gotta find the right fuse in the car and go buy new ones. Elder Anderton, the one who knows cars, taught me how, and showed me what I would need to do. I'm golden now if someone ever blows a fuse! It's fun to have music in the car now. Hazzah! (:

Sister Clawson and I are doing No Shave November! Except.. It's getting gross, so we may make it No Shave Half November. Hahah! Who knows. We'll see who has the longest leg hair (; Ha!

There was a baptism for two 8 year olds in our ward, and we got an investigator to come! It was a big deal! We found out about it an hour before the actual baptism, invited Angela and she came! And you know what?! She totally felt the Spirit! She was bawling like the whole time. And prior to this, we had explained Priesthood blessings and asked if she would like one, and she said she would. So right after the baptism our elders gave her a Priesthood blessing and she just bawled. She felt the Spirit so strongly! She said she felt so good, and full of good feelings. It was incredible! In the moment of it all, I started crying, of course, and then through mumbled words and tears extended baptism for December 14. She said she would work towards it! It was a big deal! She's been meeting with quite a few missionaries, so this is a big deal! Excited! (:

I finished my journal and now I'm into my new one! I'm debating on if I want to send it home because it's heavy and will take up weight in my luggage. I journal every night! I love it and am so grateful for it (:

Sister Clawson and I were asked to speak at our ward's Youth Standards Night. We talked about honesty and integrity, and we did an object lesson that included Starbursts. The youth loved us (; Hahah! It was fun. It's great getting to know the youth, they're powerful when it comes to missionary work.

DAD! I had dinner at the our Stake Presidents house, because they're in our ward. Unfortunately President Valencia was away in meetings, so it was just us and his wife. But she told me that someone had posted a commented on a picture on the Cincinnati Mission facebook page. And so she looked it up to tell me, and it was you! (: You are so cute! Cheering me on through Facebook. I love you (: Sister Valencia thought it was cute and was excited to tell me. Ha.

It snowed last night! Like legitimately! We woke up and looked out the window, and what did we see? So much snow covering all the trees! (; There was probably a good inch. It was beautiful! We had to scrape the ice off our car. But it warmed up today, with blue skies and sunshine, so it's practically all melted now. But it was a fun surprise!

That's basically been it! (: It was a good week! I'm loving the work out here. And I'm really loving the people I work with. One man in our bishopric came up to me and told me he hopes that my visa never comes so that I can just stay here. It was a really nice thing of him to say. It's nice knowing that the members appreciate us and see the hard work we do. Because it is so hard! I've never had to work harder in my life, and it's tiring, but in the end, it is SO worth it! I love it. The work of Salvation is a rewarding work! And I'm grateful for the opportunity that I have to be a missionary! (:
I love you lots family! Thanks for all the support! You're the best family in the whole wide world! I miss you, and pray for you every day.

I love you
Sister Clara Kay Dunn.

1. Sister Clawson and I in our Halloween outfits! (:
2. Just posing in my Halloween outfit!
3. This is Elder Anderton IN our trunk trying to find the right fuse that we needed to replace. Haha! It was dark, cold, and raining! And we was so willing to just help and climb into our car. Haha! (:
4. Swing set in Oakwood! It was so cute, I had to take a break and swing for like 2 seconds. I'm a REAL missionary! Hahah!
5. One of the elders let me take his bike for a ride. It was so much fun! Haven't done taht in months! It was a lot of fun.
6. However, getting off was a challenge. It was a boy bike, and I'm a girl, and so I had to carefully and strategically get off so that my skirt didn't come up to my waist. Hah!
7. This is how we transport elders and their bikes. We just shove them in the back of the van and close them in. Ha!
8. Tried getting a picture of the snow and the pretty sky this morning. It turned out alright. It doesn't give it justice. It was beautiful!

SORRY! No time! Literally. November 4, 2013

So basically I have like zero time! So ignore all typos and perhaps the shortness of this email. Ha!

So transfers were October 15th. And I'm still in good ol' Miamisburg! Haha... ha.. No it's good. Because I'm being trained, we knew we'd stay in the same area. So I think the next transfers are November 25th. So I'm good until then! (: So please send letters. Yay! It's getting cold. Ohio is weird. I'll have to wear like 40 layers, then the next day I'm okay with just a cardigan. It's going in and out. But I've decided to just always wear tights to be safe (: Everyone keeps saying that this winter is going to be brutal.. So we'll see. Yay ice and snow. Yuck.

Kenny got his mission call?! AH! That's awesome! CHILE! That'll be amazing! Isn't where Christopher Pedersen served or something? That'll be cool to be able to speak Spanish. Dang. I'm so proud of Kenny. He's awesome. Man, wish I could've been there. I'm so excited for him! You'll have to tell him for me. Ah. How great.

Sister Clawson was sick this week.. Poor girl. I forced her to sleep. Which was actually very nice of me! It was somewhat challenging knowing she was back there sleeping while I was up at 6:30 exercising and studying. But she needed it! And I was okay doing what I needed to do! She's slowly getting better. She's been drinking Emergen-C like nobodies business! Hahah! She's to the point now where her coughs are the really good flemy kind. Yay! Hahah. I'm just surprised that she got sick before I did. Because I'm reallyy good at getting sick! It's a specialty of mine (: So we'll see if I get sick now. There have been a couple times where I just haven't felt real good, but thankfully it passes.

Oh! Cooper! I had a dinner appointment one night and we went over, they're a young, married almost 2 years, couple. And we started talking to them, and he mentioned his mission and that he was in Denver, so I asked what mission it was and he said Denver South! No way! So I asked if he had known and Elder Dunn, and he said it sounded familiar, like maybe he knew a Zone Leader that was an Elder Dunn. He asked why, and I then moved the hair away from my nametag and said that I'm his sister, Sister Dunn! Ha. So he ended up getting his computer out and we Facebook creeped on ya (: Haha! He said you looked vaguely familiar, but wasn't too sure. It was weird seeing Cooper's facebook page up, the outside world! Haha. Well it was super cool, he told us about awesome object lessons that they would do on their mission. It was exciting. And a lot of fun. But his name is Joel Baker. He's hilarious. Small world!

That same guy, Joel, liked to guess things about us, instead of just asking us. It was really funny. He was terrible at it. So he guessed how long we'd been out. He said a year for me and a month for Sister Clawson. Hahah! Oh man! He thought I'd been out a year! I must be doing something right! So we had to correct him and tell him I've been out 3 months and she's been out 5. Ha!

Oh my gosh, I only have 5 minutes! So I'm going to have to end this email. Sorry!

Basically we had to be in at 6:30 on Halloween and for our wards Trunk-or-Treat I tasted the hottest chili there! It was hilarious! No one could believe that I did it. It was very very hot. But I'm tough! (:
Ha!

Sorry that I'm having to end this so quickly. I'm timed, and when the time runs out it just kicks me off! So I'm gonna send this before it's too late! Sorry!

I love you all so much! Thank you for everything that you do. And all the support you give me.

I love you,
Sister Clara Kay Dunn.

Sleep talking, snow and baptisms! October 28, 2013

It's P-day, P-day, gotta get down on P-day! Emailin, emailin, YA! Laundry, and shoppin, YA! Looking forward to the next P-day!

Hooray! (: It's finally P-day and I was so excited! So now I will get started on the week!

I do believe I took a picture every day this week, so expect that! It only took me 3 weeks to actually get a picture every day! Yes!

So remember how I sleep talk? Well so does Sister Clawson. So it's hilarious! For all we know, we could be having conversations at night! Haha! So we have our area split up into Sections, and so we'll work a section or two each day. And working is good! But I look forward to the 8 hours that I have to sleep! It is precious time where I can just relax and not worry about being a missionary, but can just be unconcious and rest. Ha! So one night, Sister Clawson sat up in her bed and said, "We need to go work in Section 5!" And I honestly thought that meant we had to get up right then and go work. And I just responded with, "Ya, but now is the time to sleep." We both woke up in the morning and while exercising just started cracking up! I was so angry that she was wanting to work in our precious time where we don't have to! It was super funny. I guess last night I was sleep talking again. I've been having weird dreams where the mission does these safety protocols and we have to know what to do in certain situations. It's weird. But I didn't know how to react to one and I started talking saying I didn't know what to do! It's weird. We wake up not with weird stories.

Sister Clawson has started saying her prayers in Portuguese! She knows how to open and close the prayer! It's exciting (: I'm so proud of her! And every morning we say the missionary purpose in English AND in Portuguese! She's getting good! (:

IT SNOWED! Like multiple times this week! It's ridiculous. Thank heavens none of it has stuck, but flakes fell from the sky! It's getting cold here! Although today is nice, and all I need are leggings and a sweater (: Ohio is weird. Kinda like Oregon. Ha!

I hit my 3 month mark on the 24th! Yay! (:

We had a Zone Conference this last Thursday, and President Porter came down and spoke with us. It lasted from 9am to 4pm.. Long! But awesome! It was spiritual and great (: And as we left the conference, we all shook President Porter's hand, and when it was Sister Clawson and my turn, he stopped us and said that he was so proud of us, that we are doing a great job in our area. Holy cow! That was a personal compliment to us! And only to us! It felt so nice! We really needed to hear that, and it was so sweet and kind of him.

We went to Kettering Ward's Trunk-or-Treat with our investigator Mariah and her aunt and uncle's family, the Guerrero's. I love them (: All of them. They're my family away from family. I've called Sister Guerrero, Aunt Val so many times. hahah! She's been to every lesson we've taught with Mariah, so we've gotten close. So we went to their Ward Halloween party. For our costumes Sister Clawson and I switched our nametags (: We be oh so clever! HAha! Then we borrowed some mustaches from the elders in that ward. Ha! I have pictures (:

Two baptisms this last Saturday! YAY! (: It was INCREDIBLE! So the first baptism was at 11am. So Sister Clawson and I got to the church at 9am because it takes like an hour and a half to fill the font! Who knew?! Glad someone told us! Well I don't know who's idea it was to have the sister missionaries fill the font but we had NO clue what we were doing! We've never done this before! You'd think it'd just be like a giant bathtub, but there are levers, and switches, and drains, and tubes, and it was confusing! Thank heavens a brother in our ward was there and could help us. Hahah! Now we know how to fill the font! (:

Mariah's service was beautiful! Valorie Guerrero, her aunt, did a great job planning it all! We did the service in the chapel, and it really brought the Spirit! So I was asked like a week before the baptism to perform a musical number for her service. I was SO nervous! Oh my goodness. She had a great turn out, and it was in the chapel, so I had to sing into the microphone, and I get nervous! Well guess what, I did good! Hahah. I was actually really proud of myself. Usually my nerves get the best of me, but the Lord watched over me. So Sister Clawson played the piano and I sang (: The music was "A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief," and I sang the words, "I Know that My Redeemer Lives." It was so neat sounding! I was so honored that I could be a part of her baptism in that way. And then she was baptized and I just bawled. It was amazing. And I hugged her right after and she was just so pure and happy (: Then she was confirmed and received the Holy Ghost, and it was so amazing! I was just bawling! It's incredible to see this amazing 18 year old girl decide to join the church because she knows it's true. Her mother didn't approve, and her dad was there, but isn't a member. And yet she decided for herself to follow Christ and to find out the truthfulness of this church. It's incredible. I hugged her so many times that day. Ha (: We would just squeeze each other. I love her so much. I'm so happy for her!

Then we had Bella's baptism (: She is 11 and she is adorable! She is really shy, but that day she was brave! We've gotten really close, so it was fun to be able to experience this day with her. It's just her and her dad, Abraham. Her mother left them awhile back, so that has been hard on them. Bella's mom doesn't go to church anymore, but she did come to the service, which was nice of her. You could tell they aren't very close.. But Bella was a rockstar! She did amazing! Sister Clawson and I were there with her every step of the way! We helped her get all changed, and then we led her to the font, and we stood to the side right above the stairs and watched her be baptized. It was amazing! And she turned around to walk up to us she just smiled at us (: And then told us how cold she was. Hahah! Then we helped her get changed back into her clothes and I brushed her hair for her and helped her get ready to go back in. She is darling. And it meant a lot that we could be there for her. Her dad was able to baptize her, which is incredible becuase he just started coming back to church. Abraham and Bella are amazing! You can just see and feel the love they have for each other. And this day was so special! Her Grandma and Grandpa, who are members, flew in from Seattle to see her baptism (: Her Grandpa came up to me and asked if I was one who taught her, and I told him I was, and before I could object he just hugged me. And when he released he was just crying. He told me that prayers are answered and that I was his answer. That he is so grateful that I was able to work with Bella and lead her to baptism. It was so sweet of him to say.

Saturday was a special day, and I know that this church is true! And I'm honored that I could help bring 2 girls to this knowledge. They're incredible. They found out for themselves the truthfulness of it, and decided to follow Christ's example and be baptized. They're amazing!

Phew. Ha! Mom! I got your package! YAY! (: HAPPY! It was perfect. And I just love you so much! Also, you're guys costume was HILARIOUS! I loved it! I'm so glad you guys like Duck Dynasty! It's hilarious! Dad, you even had Si's cup! Hahah! You guys are the best parents ever! Really. I love you guys. Very clever costume, you win the award!

Well that was my week! I'll send all my pictures! (:

Thank you for everything. I love you all so much. You help me get through this, I couldn't do it without you! Know that I love you, and pray for you!

I love you,
Sister Clara Kay Dunn.

1. This is a creep sign, so I'm making a creep face. Haha! It's not "watch FOR children," but just "watch children." Hahah!
2. Oakwood (a city in our area) in the fall! (:
3. A day in Oakwood! It was pretty. I love that city!
4. Trunk-or-Treat party! Haha!  Basically this is our relationship. This says it all. Ha! Weirdees.
6. Halloween costumes! Mustaches! We look so odd! Haha!
7. Me and Aunt Val at the Trunk-or-Treat!
Aunt Val told me to take a picture with the whole bucket and to send it home to show you how good the members are treating us. Haha! They're giving us buckets of candy so I can gain even more weight! Yes! (:
8. Sister Missionaries who taught Mariah! She's silly cause she didn't real smile in the pictures. Haha. She's a goof (:
9. I love Mariah so much. She's amazing!
10. The six sisters! This is who was at every lesson with Mariah! Shelly Johnson, who is in the wheelchair, she is in our ward and is the best member missionary ever! She asked Mariah if she wanted to learn more. I love Shelly! Then it's Sister Clawson, me, Mariah, Lauren Guerrero (Mariah's cousin), and Valorie Guerrero (her Aunt. Aunt Val).
11. The sister missionaries with Bella! She's so cute (:
12. Me and Bella. I love her so much. She is amazing. She was sad to hear that we wouldn't be meeting with her as often after she was baptized. But luckily we're having dinner at their home tonight! Yay! (:

Well that's it! (: Lots! Haha.

I love you so much!
-Sister Dunn.

deliciousness, ducks and excitement! October 21, 2013

Hey family!

So last Wednesday Sister Clawson and I were talking about visas. Just wondering when I'll get mine and I found out like 3 people from my district in the MTC got their visas, so they're happening! Well as we're talking about it our phone rings. We look at who it is and it's the mission office! Sister Clawson picks up and says hello and then looks at me with wide eyes and extends her arm to hand me the phone saying they're asking for me. Oh my gosh! It's my visa, it's come! I'm freaking out! I grab the phone and say (as I always do when I answer the phone), "Hello, this is Sister Dunn." The ladies voice responds back and she's from the mission office. Oh my goodness! It's happening, she's about to tell me that I'm leaving for Brasil in 2 days! The ladies voice continues and says, "So Sister Dunn-" The suspense! Just tell me! "-I hear that you have an injured finger." Um.. What? Does a hurt finger prohibit me from going to Brasil?! Oh my gosh! Why did I ever throw that football?! I reply, "Oh.. Well I did. It's getting better now. How did you know?" Because a jammed finger doesn't make it's way up the grape vine to the mission office. She then says, "Well your mother was concerned and gave us a call." SERIO?! MOMMA! What the what are you doing messing with me that way! You jokester. Sheesh! I thought I was going to a different country, but it was just my mom being so sweet. Wow. So basically, I don't have my visa, but I do have a hurt finger and now know what I need to do if I need to see the doctor. Haha! (: You're a hoot mom. You! I'm not hurt, I just wanted to know what would happen if I like broke my arm and needed to see the doctor. So I guess it's good, she told me what I'd need to do. Just suck it up, cut my arm off, and keep doing the Lord's work (; Just kidding. But it was a very exciting moment. You're the best mom, thanks. I love you.

But I guess like 3 people from my district in the MTC got their visas and are now in Brasil! So that gives me hope! Perhaps someday I'll get my visa! Hahah.

It's getting cold here! That means leaves changing colors and the air becoming more brisk. Also, wind. I hate wind. And it is super flat here, so Ohio loves wind! Yuck. Well we had to whip out our pea coats! Yay! It was so exciting! We had to bundle up. And momma, you taught me well! I am a layering fool! You have no idea. 5 layers! Woohoo! (: I'm such an Oregonian!

Guess what I had for lunch one day?! FIVE GUYS! Yep. You hear me.. Or read me words.. Five Guys! Not four, not six, but FIVE. It was DELICIOUS! Ah. The perks of still being in America (; Sister Guerrero, who is the Aunt of Mariah, who is getting baptized this Saturday, took us. Then we taught Mariah the Word of Wisdom right outside Five Guys. It was a lot of fun and deliciousness. Haha.

So the ducks by our apartment are my friends. And I totally hang out with them and chat with them, well I thought I'd be kind and even feed them. No. Bad idea! They were desperate! It started with about 8 ducks. I so cutely threw little pieces of bread to them and before I knew it ducks were FLOCKING! Waddling in from all different directions, FLYING in just to get a taste of my butt end stale bread. They were walking between my legs, surrounding and following me. There were like 50 of them. It was scary! One even jumped up and nipped at my jacket! They were brutal! I basically just quickly threw my bread at them and ran for it! It was hilarious. Sister Clawson, who was safely waiting in the car, was just cracking up at me. I guess from her view it was hilarious, but from mine it was scary and deathly! I thought they were my friends! Well yesterday was Sister Clawson's birthday and we went and took pictures by our lake pond thing and my friends were their and I forgave them. So all is good now (:

Yesterday was Sister Clawson's birthday so we celebrated with laying in bed for a little bit and having cinnamon rolls for breakfast! (: It was delicious and fun! Then we took pictures. It was a great and happy day for her! I have the best companion!

We have our two baptisms this Saturday! Yay! Go team! Mariah, the 18 year old, is getting baptized at 11. And the Bella, the 11 year old, is getting baptized at 3. It'll be quite the day! Mariah, who is like my best friend, and who I believe is why I am in Ohio, asked me to sing for her baptism. Uh. What?! Holy nervous. So Sister Clawson is going to play piano and I'm going to sing. And her baptism will be in the chapel, so I'll be singing into a microphone, I get nervous. Ah! But I was so honored! I'm singing the words of "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" to the tune of "A Poor Wayfaring Stranger." It's really neat (: So I'll have to tell you how that goes!

The church is true!

I love you all so much! Send letters! Momma, I got yours! You're the best (: I'm writing you back today! Yay! Thanks for all your support and prayers. I need it. They keep me going.

I love you,
Sister Clara Kay Dunn.

1.Hahaha. Yep. Self explanatory.
2. Sister Clawson's birthday picture taking adventure! (: We're goofs.
3. Companionship! (:
4. Oh you know, just the lake right outside our apartment! (: And me all dressed up like a sister missionary in my pea coat! Yay fall!
5. Me and my friends! Happy (:
6. And our lake. It's pretty.

Love you all!

Thank you a lot Columbus! October 15, 2013

Alright everyone! So yesterday was Columbus Day, so all the libraries were closed, so we didn't get to email... Sad. So we're taking time to do it today! Yay! (:

Not much happened this week, so I'll just write the things I wrote and then see if more comes. Ha.

So I sent some pictures of me and Sister Clawson in a forest! Yes! It was so much fun! We were walking to people's apartments because we only have so many miles we can go in our car. And so there's a dead in street and then the road continues beside it, and what we would have had to do was follow the roads all the way around and it would have been like a mile and a half.. Well we didn't have time for that. So I remembered seeing a little trail by the dead in road and I made Sister Clawson come check it out. It looked good, so we took it! And it went exactly to where we needed to be! And it cut off like 20 minutes of walking! Great! It was a real short little trail, but it was a fun adventure! And it was so pretty! The sunlight coming in through the trees, and there was even a little creek running through. It was a lot of fun! And very exciting (: Ha. So of course we had to document it with pictures.

I don't know what it is about Ohio and apartment complexes, but they like to waste space by putting in giant pond lake things. Sometimes a spurting fountain is included. It's very pretty, but they totally could have fit another building there. But whatevs. So right outside our aparment we have a lake, and so we have lots of ducks. It's great. They're my friends. They're very loud, and often times we can hear them as we study or get ready to go to bed. It's just great! They're so cute. And sometimes they cross the street so we have to wait like 5 minutes for them all to waddle across the road. Ah! Cute (: So because they're my friend, I just wanted to hold one (; So on occasion, as we walk by the ducks, you may see me trying to catch one. It's great! My arms are outstretched and I'm slightly crouched following ducks around. Well who knew, ducks can fly! AH! Scariest thing in my life when I'm just trying to hug my friends and they walk away and so I speed up and then they speed up their waddling and then I speed up a smidgen more and then they FLY! AH! What the what ducky friends?! Serio! Sheesh. I almost had a heart attack! One day, I'll make one my friend and he can be my pet (:

A family in our ward, the Lenarts, have a barn, so they showed us around. It was SO much fun! I love barns! They're raising chickens. They have awkward teenage year ones, where they're like awkwardly patchy in their baby fuzz.. They're kinda weird. And then they have egg laying chickens (totally thought of Shaye and their chickens) and then they have chickens for....eating... Ya. It was hilarious, they have a 3 year old little girl, and so when we were looking at the awkwardly aged chickens she just randomly said, "They're all going to die." And I was like, whoa, what? So I asked her to repeat and she just said, "They're all going to die." So I asked why and she responded with, "Because they're all going to go to the butcher." Ah! Cute little girl gone scary! Hahah. Well we started walking up a hill towards their donkey then all of a sudden you hear a "baaaaa." And then a sheep just jumps out of no where and starts running at us. And then before you know it there are like 5 sheep running straight for us! Well Sister Lenart had brought food so we got to feed the sheep. It was hilarious. They were so excited. And then 2 little calves joined in! They were adorable. They have the biggest eyes! And so I tried feeding a calf, um, no. I forgot they have giant nasty long tongues! It was like wrapping it's tongue around my hand! It was so gross, I was just squealing and Sister Lenart just laughed at me. Ha! But it was so much fun (: They're a cool family.

I still find Peener hairs on my clothing! (: Hah! It's so happy! I miss PeeWee so much! She's the best cat ever! Tell her I love her.

Remember when I jammed my finger like 3 or 4 weeks ago? It still hurts and I still can't bend it or anything. It's also still kinda swollen.. Is that normal? Cause I don't know. And I kinda tweaked my wrist, but that'll be fine. But I just got wondering, I mean these things are okay, they'll fix themselves.

Well we're still working with Mariah and Bella. And let me tell you, favorite thing ever is teaching an 11 year old about the Law of Chastity! Yes! (: Bahaha! It was hilarious. She was SO uncomfortable! But she's awesome and learns quickly so she picked up on it. Tonight we're teaching it to Mariah. I'm excited! I love being a missionary! It's always exciting. Bella is getting ready to be baptized, it's super exciting. It's neat to see how she and her dad have grown in the gospel. It's great. And Mariah is getting baptized as well, but we have to "hand her off" to the YSA missionaries.. dangit. But we're gonna just keep teaching til we have to do that and then ask our Mission President if we can attend the baptism. Exciting stuff right here!

I'm getting good at talking to everyone I see. Which is a very hard thing to do! But when I do it's a great feeling! I'm doing what I can and that's what matters. It's awkward, and sometimes hilarious, but it always works out. The Lord is always there. And I'm getting better at talking with people and teaching. I just have to tell myself to do it.

Well that's all for this week! Until next! Love you all SO much. Thank you for all the support, really, it means a lot. It gets me through the week.

I love you lots and lots!
Sister Clara Kay Dunn.

So we were walking, and we were gonna take a loooong way around to get to some apartments, but we found a little trail through a very pretty little foresty thing, so we took it! It was so exciting! And beautiful, it was like I was in Oregon!

Here I am so happy that I'm in a wooded area! Yay! (:
Sister Clawson and I so excited for our adventure!

There was even a little creek! Hotdog! So I went exploring a bit and got stuck on a rock in the middle of the water. So naturally I asked Sister Clawson to take my picture (: And don't worry, I made it back to land all dry! It was a fun little adventure.

That's all for ya! I think I'm doing pretty good on this whole sending pictures every week thing! You're welcome (;

Love you all SO much!

Conference, honking, and rain (: October 7, 2013

General Conference was awesome! My gosh. I loved it! 1 down on my mission, 2 more to go! That's weird to think! For Saturday conference I was on exchanges, so I was up in Englewood, and just went where my exchange companion told me. So we went to the church building for both those sessions. And then on Sunday I was back in Miamisburg and we went to the church for morning and then over to a members for the afternoon. Which I loved. It felt more like home and family. And I needed that. Conference alone is sad.. And I miss my traditions. And this is the first time in like 2 years that I hadn't actually been at conference. It was sad. But conference was aMAzing! Loved it.

So this week was kinda poop.. But it ended super awesome with Conference, so it was okay that it was a poop week. And Sister Clawson and I are gonna make this next week even betterer! Yes! (:

I've been keeping notes througout the week to tell you things that happen, otherwise I would totally forget and my letters would be terrible. Ha! So here is what I wrote!

I plugged into our GPS how long it takes to drive from Miamisburg, Ohio to Medford, Oregon. It's a total of 2380.8 miles and would take 39 hours and 7 minutes to drive there! Wow! That's a lot! And maybe you all already knew that because you have access to internet whenever the heck you want it, but I felt cool that I got that information on my own. Yay! (: It was just excited to see how far away I was. Sometimes I forget that I'm in Ohio.. I can't wrap my brain around where I am in the United States, I feel like I was just plopped here, so it was cool to see just how far from home I am.

The best thing in life is when we're walking on the sidewalk and someone driving by honks at us and we look at them quickly and as they drive by they're giving us a thumbs up. It's so happy! It makes our day (:

The trees are starting to change color! It's beautiful! They're green and yellow. I can't wait until they're red and orange. Yay! I love trees. I often compliment them. Sister Clawson thinks I'm weird. I'm not. I'm just an Oregonian (;

So with this whole government shut down I'm not sure how long it'll be til I get my visa. I'm thinking this will delay it all the more. Which is annoying.. I wish I had some inkling idea of when I'd be getting it. But I don't.

With conference, are you guys totally doing Elder Ballard's challenge of intiving one person to church or talking to someone or finding someone for the missionaries to teach by Christmas? Cause you should! That's an awesome challenge! (: Conference was so much fun! I loved it so much! How cool that we have a living prophet and apostles! It's great! (: We watched 3 sessions at the church, and then for the Sunday afternoon we watched it at a members home with a family. It was so nice. I loved it. And they fed us dinner. It felt very family like, and I'm glad for that (: But conference was incredible! I can't wait for the talks to come out in the Ensign. Yay!

It's been raining for the past like 3 days. I love it.

Well this month is going to be exciting because Bella, our 11 year old investigator is getting baptized on the 26th! YAY! I'm so excited! (: She is so cute. And my friend. So much so that she made me a bracelet! It was so adorable! In the middle of our lesson she just got up and handed it to me. It was the sweetest thing ever! (:

And then Mariah! Ah! She will most likely be getting baptized the same day, the 26th, just at a different time. I'm so excited for her. She's 18 and is just soaking in the gospel. It's happy to see! She's incredible. I told her that I think she's the reason that I'm in Ohio, and she told me that she had just recently moved down here to the Miamisburg area a couple weeks before I got out here. And she said she just had the feeling that she needed to. And she wasn't sure, and she knew her mom wouldn't like it, and she debated, but she just felt it's what she needed. And then she started crying and the spirit was so strong and it was amazing, and she continued by telling us that we are the reason she needed to be down here. To learn more of the gospel and to come unto Christ. And she said everything else isn't quite going as planned and is hard, but the one thing that is, is the gospel. Is learning about it and knowing that it is true. It was incredible to hear this! She said she had prayed about being baptized and when she was praying she just felt this overwhelming feeling and just started crying and knew that it was right and was what she needed. AH! Amazing!

Then there's Darryl. Who is awesome! He's progressing and we haven't even had a sit down lesson with him! We works a lot so we just stop by and teach him when we catch him and home and we gave him a Book of Mormon. We stopped by yesterday and he told us that he had read in the Book of Mormon and liked it, and that he has been praying and every time he does he just feels good. That's the Spirit! And then he asked if he could come to church this coming Sunday. Um. YES! Holy smokes! He's awesome!

The church is true! It's incredible! I love it (: I love sharing it. We should all strive to do what our Prophet, Thomas S. Monson has asked of us and share the gospel to everyone. You don't have to be a full time missionary to do it. I promise, if you just open your mouth, God will provide you with the words you need to say. It's incredible! I love this work. It's hard. But worth it!

I love you all so much! Momma, you're letter was perfect! Thank you! Tell the whole world to do that! (:

Love you lots and lots and lots! Until next week (:
Sister Dunn!

We looked cute this day, so we tried taking a self timer picture (: We're so far away. Ha. But we're on our balcony with a pretty tree behind us. Happy.

Me and Sister Sofele were accidental twinners during a Zone Conference (:
I LOVE my Disney Princess bandaids and look for any excuse to wear them... On my forehead. Haha!
This one I just wanted to make sure you all still knew that I'm a goof. Best face ever, with an added Princess bandaid! Yes!
