So last Wednesday Sister Clawson and I were talking about visas. Just wondering when I'll get mine and I found out like 3 people from my district in the MTC got their visas, so they're happening! Well as we're talking about it our phone rings. We look at who it is and it's the mission office! Sister Clawson picks up and says hello and then looks at me with wide eyes and extends her arm to hand me the phone saying they're asking for me. Oh my gosh! It's my visa, it's come! I'm freaking out! I grab the phone and say (as I always do when I answer the phone), "Hello, this is Sister Dunn." The ladies voice responds back and she's from the mission office. Oh my goodness! It's happening, she's about to tell me that I'm leaving for Brasil in 2 days! The ladies voice continues and says, "So Sister Dunn-" The suspense! Just tell me! "-I hear that you have an injured finger." Um.. What? Does a hurt finger prohibit me from going to Brasil?! Oh my gosh! Why did I ever throw that football?! I reply, "Oh.. Well I did. It's getting better now. How did you know?" Because a jammed finger doesn't make it's way up the grape vine to the mission office. She then says, "Well your mother was concerned and gave us a call." SERIO?! MOMMA! What the what are you doing messing with me that way! You jokester. Sheesh! I thought I was going to a different country, but it was just my mom being so sweet. Wow. So basically, I don't have my visa, but I do have a hurt finger and now know what I need to do if I need to see the doctor. Haha! (: You're a hoot mom. You! I'm not hurt, I just wanted to know what would happen if I like broke my arm and needed to see the doctor. So I guess it's good, she told me what I'd need to do. Just suck it up, cut my arm off, and keep doing the Lord's work (; Just kidding. But it was a very exciting moment. You're the best mom, thanks. I love you.
But I guess like 3 people from my district in the MTC got their visas and are now in Brasil! So that gives me hope! Perhaps someday I'll get my visa! Hahah.
It's getting cold here! That means leaves changing colors and the air becoming more brisk. Also, wind. I hate wind. And it is super flat here, so Ohio loves wind! Yuck. Well we had to whip out our pea coats! Yay! It was so exciting! We had to bundle up. And momma, you taught me well! I am a layering fool! You have no idea. 5 layers! Woohoo! (: I'm such an Oregonian!
Guess what I had for lunch one day?! FIVE GUYS! Yep. You hear me.. Or read me words.. Five Guys! Not four, not six, but FIVE. It was DELICIOUS! Ah. The perks of still being in America (; Sister Guerrero, who is the Aunt of Mariah, who is getting baptized this Saturday, took us. Then we taught Mariah the Word of Wisdom right outside Five Guys. It was a lot of fun and deliciousness. Haha.
So the ducks by our apartment are my friends. And I totally hang out with them and chat with them, well I thought I'd be kind and even feed them. No. Bad idea! They were desperate! It started with about 8 ducks. I so cutely threw little pieces of bread to them and before I knew it ducks were FLOCKING! Waddling in from all different directions, FLYING in just to get a taste of my butt end stale bread. They were walking between my legs, surrounding and following me. There were like 50 of them. It was scary! One even jumped up and nipped at my jacket! They were brutal! I basically just quickly threw my bread at them and ran for it! It was hilarious. Sister Clawson, who was safely waiting in the car, was just cracking up at me. I guess from her view it was hilarious, but from mine it was scary and deathly! I thought they were my friends! Well yesterday was Sister Clawson's birthday and we went and took pictures by our lake pond thing and my friends were their and I forgave them. So all is good now (:
Yesterday was Sister Clawson's birthday so we celebrated with laying in bed for a little bit and having cinnamon rolls for breakfast! (: It was delicious and fun! Then we took pictures. It was a great and happy day for her! I have the best companion!
We have our two baptisms this Saturday! Yay! Go team! Mariah, the 18 year old, is getting baptized at 11. And the Bella, the 11 year old, is getting baptized at 3. It'll be quite the day! Mariah, who is like my best friend, and who I believe is why I am in Ohio, asked me to sing for her baptism. Uh. What?! Holy nervous. So Sister Clawson is going to play piano and I'm going to sing. And her baptism will be in the chapel, so I'll be singing into a microphone, I get nervous. Ah! But I was so honored! I'm singing the words of "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" to the tune of "A Poor Wayfaring Stranger." It's really neat (: So I'll have to tell you how that goes!
The church is true!
I love you all so much! Send letters! Momma, I got yours! You're the best (: I'm writing you back today! Yay! Thanks for all your support and prayers. I need it. They keep me going.
I love you,
Sister Clara Kay Dunn.
